Animals[]

Alpaca[]

Walking home an alpaca found in the wild.

Alpacas are peaceful immortal creatures that spawn with a very rare chance in the grassland biome. If you find one, you can use a rope to walk it home. Put it in a pen or a small biome so you do not loose it again. Alpacas can be fed with an apple to produce a baby alpaca or to regain wool after being shorn with shears. Alpaca fleece can be used to produce hats, pillow cases and wool coats. It cannot be used as a source of thread. The baby alpaca needs feeding again to grow into an adult. If not fed with an apple, it will starve. Alpacas will produce dung for compost like sheep, when regaining wool.

Bear[]

Bears spawn in Bear Caves that can be found in badlands. To spawn a bear, there must be fish bones left in the empty bear cave. After 10 minutes the bear cave becomes inhabited. Poking the cave twice will bring out the bear who will try to attack the player before becoming bored. Bears move randomly, which means they neither follow nor flee from the player, unless hungry or angry. The bite from the bear is deadly, but it can be healed by a Medic Bag or a Sterile Wool Pad and sewed with Needle and Thread. The bear moves a maximum of 4 tiles every 3 seconds. It will hide in an empty cave if it finds one. The bear can be somewhat placated if it feeds on a Raw Mutton left on the ground, although it can never be domesticated.

Bears must be shot 3 times to die. A dead bear can be skinned by any knife and its skin can be used as a floor rug, sewed for a Grizzly Bear Hat or a Teddy Bear, one of the few objects that baby humans below 3 years old can interact with. It's also needed to make Bear Town Clothes.

Beaver[]

Beavers can be found in deep water, but are rare. They are purely aesthetic and cannot be caught or killed.

Bee[]

Main article: Bees

Bees, hives, and honey were added to 2HOL in "Patch 8" on April 28, 2018 - Angry bees have been infamous for their deadly speed and the buggy ability to move or despawn objects. Angry bees can be avoided by standing on other objects, exploiting the game.

Bison[]

Bison are found in the Yellow Prairies and will periodically spawn calves with them. They generally are peaceful and flee from players, but a bison will attack if shot at with a Bow and Arrow. Bison are the predecessors of domestic cows.

To kill a bison, you must use a bow and arrow and hit the bison with two arrows. Keep in mind that after attempting to shoot the bison it will chase and attack you. A puncture wound from an angry bison is fatal if not healed quickly by a Medic Bag or Needle and Thread. If the bison has a calf with it when it is killed, you can use a rope to lead the calf home. The calf will die shortly after being released if not fed with a bowl with corn kernels. After being fed, the calf will grow into a domestic bison which will spawn domestic calves. Domestic calves will die shortly after separating from their mother if not fed a bowl with corn kernels. If a domestic calf is fed, it turns into a domestic cow. Many players keep a domestic bison in their cow pen or in a small separate pen nearby so that they may easily get more domestic cows.

After removing the arrows from a dead bison, use a knife to skin it. The skin can be placed on a ranning rack to make leather or sewn into a bison hat. Use the knife on the skinned bison again to butcher it and obtain the meat.

Boar[]

Boars are found in the swamp. An attacking boar will result in a deadly hog cut, which can be treated with a Medic Bag or a Sterile Wool Pad and sewed with Needle and Thread. They can be shot using a bow and arrow and then butchered to yield pork. Boars can be domesticated into pigs to farm meat.

A boar displays flee behaviour, which means it will move away from the player. It can walk maximum 4 tiles and does so every 3 seconds. After around 17 moves, a boar will have a baby piglet. If hunted right then, the boar will attack the player while the piglet wanders away starving. The player can't be bitten if standing on an object. Only 1 arrow is required to kill the boar, but there's 50% chance of missing the shot.

Abandoned piglet can be picked up and stored in a backpack or pocket, where it will stay alive forever. If fed Bowl with Corn Kernels, it will grow into Domestic Boar, who is still deadly, but produces domestic pigs every few minutes as long as it can move. The proper safety precautions are necessery for safely retrieving baby pigs.

Cat[]

Main article: Cats

Cats can be found on ship wrecks which are found in deep water. Sometimes you might need to build a bridge first in order to be able to pick it up. Have some food (minced meat of any kind or a bowl of milk, cream, buttermilk or skim milk) or a pillow ready for the cat or it will die of old age soon. A cat can protect your crops from bird attacks when it is in hunting mode. But mostly they are cute pets.

Chicken[]

Hens have a very rare chance of spawning in grasslands. Both hens and roosters can be held in the player's hands or placed in Copper Cages. They can be killed with a knife and de-feathered to make a plucked chicken, which can be cooked in an adobe oven. You can also put the raw chicken on a plate, cut it with a knife and put the Cut Raw Chicken into chicken stir fry. When hens are fed a Bowl of Corn Kernels the hen can be placed in a Nest to roost or become fertilized by a Rooster. If the hen is unfertilized then there is a 5% chance it will leave a female egg, 5% chance it will leave a male egg, 45% chance it will leave an unfertilized egg, 25% chance it will leave two eggs, and a 20% chance it will leave three eggs. If the hen is fertilized then there will be a 50/50 chance on getting a male or female egg. If you place a male or female egg back into the nest and place a hen on it, then after a couple of minutes it will spawn a chick. Chicken eggs can be used to make omelette, boiled egg, pancake mix, cooked eggs, and sunny egg.

Cow[]

Cows are a common domestic animal that can be milked. In turn, milk is used for many things such as paint, cheese, butter, and hot chocolate. To milk a cow, you must feed it a bowl of corn kernels. After being fed it will produce a baby that will stay with it for a short time. This baby will die after seperating from the mother unless fed a bowl of corn kernals. To get milk you must wait for the baby calf to leave the mother and then use an empty bucket on the mother cow. There is a limited amount of time that the mother cow will have milk so make sure to have a bucket ready.

Cows can be transported by using a rope. Cows can be killed with a bow and arrow. After removing the arrow, use a knife to skin the cow. The skin can be sewn to make a Cowskin Coat or cut into two pieces. If cut, each piece can be sewn into Cow Trousers or placed on the Tanning rack to make leather.

Dog[]

Main article: Dogs

Dogs can be breed from wolves. There are nine different races you can achieve and they are all pretty cute. Dogs can help you find wild yums even when your surroundings have been scavenged already.

Goose[]

You can find a Canada Goose on a goose pond in the swamp biome. Canada geese will spawn eggs which can be used for foods such as omlettes, sunny eggs, and pancakes. Domestic geese will spawn an egg if fed a bowl of corn kernels. Goose eggs will despawn on the ground unless they are stacked or placed in crates. To hatch a domestic goose, place a goose egg on dung from a sheep or a llama and wait for it to hatch. It will hatch into a gosling which will grow into a domestic goose without being fed again. Geese can be killed by placing them on a stump or on a chopping block and quickly chopping them with an axe. Use a knife to remove the feathers and cook your goose in the method of your choosing. Geese can be skewered and cooked over hot coals, cooked in the oven, or fried in a pan. A cooked goose is used to grease a file blank to create a bronze or steel file.

Horse[]

Horses can be found in two colors: black and dappled. Black horses are found in the desert and dappled horses are found in the flower biome. Use a lasso to lead a horse home. Hitch a horse to a fence to upgrade it with a saddle and bridle. There are two types of bridles, work and show. Work bridles are used to make horse carts and show bridles are used to make a show horse which cannot be used with a cart.

To breed any horse you feed an unhitched horse a full basket of apples. It will spawn one foal of the same color. Foals are immortal and will remain laying in place until they are fed a basket of apples. Once fed, the foal grows into a horse.

Mole[]

After five minutes, Abandoned Rabbit Holes have a 2% chance of turning into a Mole Hole. When it pops out of the hole, players can whack the Mole with a Mallet. The Mole will leave a worm five minutes after being whacked and once the worm is taken, it will turn back into an Abandoned Rabbit Hole.

Mosquito[]

Mosquitos can be found flying around randomly in the jungle. If you are on the same tile as a mosquito swarm you will get yellow fever. Yellow fever makes it impossible to interact with any objects and makes your food bar decrease dramatically. This can be fatal, especially if you are low on food when you are bitten. If you see someone get bit by mosquitos and they ask for help, be sure to feed them.

Mouflon[]

Mouflon are found in the grey Badlands and will periodically spawn lambs with them. They are peaceful and flee from players. Mouflon are the predecessors of domestic sheep. To kill a Mouflon, you must use a bow and arrow and hit the Mouflon with two arrows. If the Mouflon has a lamb with it when it is killed, you can use a rope to lead the lamb home. The lamb will die shortly after being released if not fed with a bowl of Gooseberries and Carrot. After being fed, the lamb will grow into a domestic Mouflon which will spawn domestic lambs. Domestic lambs will die shortly after separating from their mother if not fed a bowl of Gooseberries and Carrot. If a domestic lamb is fed, it turns into a domestic sheep. Many players keep a domestic mouflon in their sheep pen or in a small separate pen nearby so that they may easily get more domestic sheep. After killing the mouflon, use a knife to skin it. The skin can be worn on its own or by using a needle and thread it can be made into a loincloth. Use the knife on the skinned Mouflon again to butcher it and obtain mutton.

Sheep[]

Sheep are a common domestic animal that can be sheared to produce wool. Wool can be used to make flags, clothes, pad, rope, net, thread. To collect wool you must use shears to collect the fleece off of a sheep, then use the fleece on a spinning wheel. For the sheep to grow more fleece you need to feed it a bowl of Gooseberries and Carrot. Once the fleece is grown, the sheep will leave a dung deposit that can be used to produce soil for farming.

Sheep can be transported by using a rope. Sheep can be killed with a knife. Using a clay bowl on a dead sheep will collect rennet which is used in cheese making. Using the knife again will produce mutton which is used in cooking pie and cheesy mutton sandwich.

Peacock[]

Peacocks are immortal, purely decorative animals that spawn in the flower fields biome (light green) with a very rare chance. They cannot be transported and cannot leave their biome.

Penguin[]

Penguins are immortal, purely decorative animals that spawn in the tundra biome (white) with a rare chance. They cannot be transported and theoretically are not supposed to leave their biome, but there have been sightings of a lost penguins in the badlands or the jungle biome. If you touch them they will slide away for cuteness reasons. They can jump into an ice hole, but will pop up again after 30 seconds.

Polar Bear[]

Polar Bears do not naturally spawn in the map. When players add a Bowl of Salt to a Snow Bank, there is a 10% chance that it will turn into a Melting Snow Bank with Hole. If disturbed, a Polar Bear will come out of the hole and chase players similar to how Grizzly Bears will come out of caves. It takes three shots from a Bow and Arrow to kill a Polar Bear and its corpse will despawn in five minutes. Polar Bears can be skinned for clothing, but not for floor rugs. The only clothing from polar bear is Polar Bear Hat.

Rabbit[]

Rabbits can be found in yellow prairie as Rabbit Hole or Rabbit Family Hole. A rabbit hole becomes rabbit family hole after 10 minutes.

Rabbits are the easiest animal to hunt. Set a Snare on a Rabbit Family Hole and wait 35 seconds for it to get caught and die. If the snare is set on a single Rabbit Hole, it will become an Abandoned Rabbit Hole. Every 5 minutes there's a small chance for it to change into a Mole Hole or spawn another rabbit after 1 hour. It's better to set the snare only on the Rabbit Family Hole as it respawns a rabbit every hour.

Dead rabbits can be skinned by any knife. Rabbit meat can be skewered and cooked on Hot Coals (never on open fire, it will burn!) or made into 5 different kinds of pie (Rabbit Pie, Berry Rabbit Pie, Rabbit Carrot Pie, Berry Carrot Rabbit Pie and Honey Bunny Pie). Cooked Rabbit is needed to make a Bone Needle, necessary for sewing. Rabbit Fur can be made into clothes, a Backpack and a Rabbit Pouch.

Raccoon[]

Raccoons are peaceful animals that spawn in grasslands. They display a flee behaviour, which means they will move away from the player. A raccoon will eat single raw meats—beef, pork or mutton—left on the ground. It can be killed with a bronze or steel knife and sewed into a Raccoon Hat.

Seal[]

Seals spawn in tundra, although they can be caught wandering in nearby biomes, mostly badlands. They can be easily killed by clubbing with Long Straight Shaft and skinned with any knife to make a Sealskin Coat.

Snake[]

The rattle snake spawns in desert biome. The brown snake comes from Snake Plant (found in Flower Fields).

If bitten by one, it is deadly and will kill you unless you are healed. To collect snakeskin, you must pin a snake down with a Long Straight Shaft. You only have 2 seconds to use a knife on it whilst pinned to kill it. Snakeskin is used to make Snakeskin Boots.

An easier way to kill a snake is by running it over with a Horse-Drawn Wagon. If you ride over it with a Horse-Drawn Cart the snake will attack and break it. If you do break the cart it can be repaired with a rope.

Tortoise[]

Tortoise has a rare chance of spawning in the grasslands. Its use is purely aesthetic. It can be picked up and put down. When on ground it slowly moves in a random direction. When touched, it will hide in its shell.

Turkey[]

Turkeys are found in the Yellow Prairies. They can be killed using a bow and arrow, plucked for 18 Turkey Feathers, and skinned for meat. A poked turkey will run away. They won't attack a player, but are hard to hunt as the arrow have 70% chance to miss. While fleeing, a turkey can move a maximum of 6 tiles plus additional 4 while walking over objects. A turkey can be transported alive in a Copper Cage or plucked on a player's head.

Turkey can be cooked in Adobe Oven or Brick Oven. Cooking process takes time, similarly to Pizza, so it should always be cooked last. When cooked, it needs to be sliced by bronze or steel knife. The meal consists of 6 turkey slices and 2 drum sticks that can be both accessed by right clicking the meal. Turkey carcass, after returning turkey leg bones, can be used to make Broth. A crock of turkey broth contains 8 portions which can be removed using Clay Bowls.

Turkey feathers can be used to make a Feather Hat and to decorate various other hats.

Wolf[]

Wolves are predators found roaming the badlands. An attacking wolf will result in a deadly Bite Wound, which can be treated with a Medic Bag or a Sterile Wool Pad and sewed with Needle and Thread. They can be shot using a bow and arrow and skinned for wolf skin. Wolves can be domesticated into dogs.

Wolves display flee behaviour, which mean they move away from the player. They can move every 3 seconds for a maximum of 4 tiles and can't bite if the player is standing on an object. An arrow has 50% chance of missing the wolf, enraging it. Angry Wolf chases the player for average of 17 moves. If hit by an arrow, the wolf moves 4 times before dying, but is still dangerous during that time as it's twice as fast as normally and can still bite.

Wolf Skin can be worn by itself or made into a Wolf Hat or a Wolf Crown. A wolf is also needed to make Wolf Town Clothes.
